A Golden Opportunity for Change

Sometimes when we give, we lose sight of the recipients in the vastness of the organizations to which we donate to. With Building a Bridge to Uganda, you can tangibly see the wonderful personal transformations you can effect in the faces and lives of the people we present in our website.  One of the greatest opportunities for transformation lies in the desperate need of the people of Uganda for decent education. Click here to read the United Nations Publication on Education in Africa.

In fact, all of sub-Sahara needs to upgrade the education of its people. In 2007, those of us who travelled to Uganda for our first mission trip discovered the startling fact that over 95% of the children who attended the primary school at which they worked did not and could not go on to secondary school.  That is, out of the hundred children ready to graduate in that year, only four were able to go.  This was not because of grades or because of lack of desire.  It was simply because of lack of finances.  These students who did not graduate returned to their village to farm and marry, only to continue the desperate cycle of poverty that has trapped these deserving people in this so-called modern era. Building a Bridge to Uganda offers its visitors the opportunity to sponsor a child to help individual children fulfill their potential through education.

But right now you, as a visitor to our website, can tangibly help change all this, affecting lives of thousands by building a high school in Uganda, Africa.

A Wonderful Site to Build On Has Already Been Donated

While forming Building a Bridge to Uganda, an order of missionary priests informed us they would make available to us approximately 30 acres of land north of Kampala for the site of a new high school.  In addition, besides donating the land, the Apostles of Jesus said they would provide some of the teaching staff.

With the site only an hour away from Kampala, there is easy access to electricity, and ground water is only 40-50 ft. below the surface. Drilling for a well, therefore, is much easier and less expensive. With the help of the Apostles of Jesus and eager donors, architectural renderings, a six-year budget, including all related construction elements, have been developed, allowing a clear prospective for interested donors.

How Your Donations Multiplies Its Power

In six years, the school will attain full enrollment of 700 students.  Approximately, 100-150 of those students will be boarders. We at Building a Bridge to Uganda fully intend to provide dozens of scholarships for students from Ibanda to attend this high school. Everyone can help with this marvelous project.

An average family near Kampala, numbers six people. By educating 700 students, the new high school can affect the lives of 4,000 to 5,000 people.  By employing a staff of as many as 100 people, 600 people will benefit from the employment of at least one member of their family.  The construction of the school itself will also involve hundreds of people and, in communities crying for financial relief, this project alone could positively impact the lives of a thousand people.  Therefore, one little high school in a somewhat remote community could literally create a significant positive economic and educational impact on thousands of people in this area of Africa for years to come.
