Sponser a Child's Education

People need every type of skill, trade or profession to prosper or, if necessary, to climb out of the depths of poverty. In fact, the crushing cycle of poverty can only be broken if the opportunity for education exists for the people. Only through education, can one empower young minds to contribute to the scientific, engineering, agricultural, medical and other needs of their community. Only through education can one create a social order capable of thriving in the modern world.  To assist with educational needs, not only does Building a Bridge to Uganda sponsor the School Project but also a very important program to help individual children through donations.

Although the Ugandan government funds much of the primary and secondary schools needs, the children and adolescents must also bring their own financial resources to permit their education to proceed. With school fees costing $200 to $350 per year, this provides an insurmountable obstacle to many Ugandan families. In fact less than 5% of students can afford to go to school and are consequently relegated back to the fields to work, perpetuating the poverty cycle for their own families in the generation to come.

Right now, less than 5 students out of 100 graduating from the primary school are able to attend high school. Sadly, students demonstrating their interests and abilities in subjects, even those attaining good grades have been turned away because they simply cannot afford to go. Thus, the cycle of poverty continues. Many of our donors who have travelled there, have seen both the crushing poverty and the great hope and aspirations of the people.

Now, Bridge to Uganda will match willing individuals, families or corporations with a child who they will sponsor year after year. Please join Bridge to Uganda in freeing these peoples and this society from perpetual poverty. Give them the gift of the ability to advance their society. Please give to sponsor a child’s education.
